Canada Day Gold

Our G05 Premiers traveled to Kelowna, BC for the Canada Day Tournament and well…

were placed in the top tier at U13, playing an age above in a table of 6 teams from BC and Alberta!

Hitting the practice pitch late afternoon on Friday, they were all struck by the intense sunny heat that is the hallmark of the Okanagan Valley. But, the Premers have their own hallmark – hard work! They shook off the heat and focused on the task at hand.

By the end of the weekend, hard work (as it always does) turned into success. Unbeaten in their first three games, they kicked off against the winner of Pool A, Vancouver’s Fusion FC. A tight first half ensued after our girls shocked all with a goal in the first minute. Going into the second half at a goal up, they needed to dig deep and keep working hard through the oppressive heat. The goal scoring flood gates opened as they were able to get some insurance goals against a very hard working defense, taking the gold with a final tally of 5 to nil.

The team was able to work as a unit and share the heavy load of 30+ degree weather over 3 days and five sessions. An exceptional example of what can be accomplished with the application of hard work, great training principles, adherence to a tactical system, and dependence on each other.

The coaching staff are very happy with the team’s attitude and effort – well done ladies!
