The 05-duo from our Premiers 05G hopped on a flight out to Toronto last week to perform in the final selection stage for the Danone Cup. They will all be definite memories of a lifetime for the up & comers, that they were hand picked for the trial. Kaleigh & Nyema – well done, so proud of you both!   for more information on the Danone cup – click here!   #SWUPROUD #campsies

OUR PREMIERS ARE OFF TO PERU! It has been a trip in the planning stages for some time. That time has finally come as our Premiers 00G team is headed for international exposure in Peru!     Led by their team’s head coach & our Club Director Ramon Mifflin (a Peruvian native), the girls have a big trip planned as their time will not be spent only around soccer.   If you have not read much on the current devastation that flooding has struck Peru – click here to give yourself a brief update.   So, the team has announced…

SISCO HARDWARE

In January, our Premiers 05G headed to Saskatoon for the SISCO 9v9 tournament & they experienced success at every turn! Organization success; the management team for the tourney was on point. Heather, Emma, Andrea, and all those who supported us with the food, scheduling, and planning did a very good job keeping everything on track and the team well fed and rested. Experience success; Latoya’s tweet (@swupremieres05) summed up the weekend quite well from a soccer perspective: “5 games, 3 days, 4 wins, 1 loss, 23 goals for, 4 goals against, no injuries, stronger bonds, great memories”. Diving into those…

Avalanche of Success

Back in the summer of 2015, a bad news bears group of young U12 girls, most relatively new to the game of soccer, struggled through their junior season of Tier 4 soccer. That team was the SWU Avalanche. The team placed 12th in a group of 15 that outdoor season, earning a total of 3 wins during their 14 game season.  At the end of the year, the team’s head coach, Carly Wood-Garvey, moved to U13 with her daughter & the team was without a head coach and were coming off of a very tough year.  However, the Avalanche were…

This is Spartans!

On Sunday, August 21, at the Calgary Soccer Centre, a final chapter closed on one of the most decorated and well respected Boys teams in the Province.   The SWU Spartans (formerly the NSD ‘Wolves’ and ‘Celtic 98’) enjoyed a long reign as kings of the 1998 Boys birth year.  The journey ended at this year’s Tier 1 Provincial Championships on a heartbreaking 94th minute penalty shot awarded to their rivals, Foothills FC. The Provincial silver medal marked a final accolade in a string of successes that defined them as one of the most consistent teams in Calgary’s recent soccer…

24kt LYON

@ Tier 2 Provincials  in Lethbridge, SWU Lyon99 earned the top spot – Gold, Provincial Champs, Da Best, etc.   This effort was the basis of a stated goal 10 months prior when the players were asked what was important to them. Among many individual goals, the primary team goal was to win provincials in Lyon’s first year of U18. Our indoor season was tough & we trained hard, exhibiting commitment within a positive, supportive team environment. A strong attendance at practice, a great work ethic at Nick’s Academy & an unwavering belief in a team effort resulted in an…
